Pest Control for Restaurants

PESTUK always recommends adequate pest control for restaurants. Restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and take-aways should all have regular contracts in place to ensure the safety of their staff and customers. Having a pest control contract will also be a benefit when visited by the Environmental Health Agency

Food premises should be kept as hygienic and sterile as possible to reduce the risks of contamination. The potential for causing illness and worse in clients and customers should also be monitored. The financial devastation from law suits and bad press should also be considered. Food premises where pests have caused problems can find themselves suffering the consequences long after the problem has been solved.

Pest control for restaurantsIt may be tempting to forego a pest control contract in order to save some money, but it is a risk. A risk for your business, for customers and for staff.

What a contract provides

A contract includes with every visit the following-

  • laying of preventative baits, monitors and traps in a safe manner.
  • Placement of pheremone cockroach monitors where applicable.
  • Assessment and recommendations to ensure hygiene standards stay high.
  • Proofing recommendations are advised upon.

Each contract has an individual technician who supervises and is contactable to answer all questions you may have regarding your contract and proofing recommendations. They will also be aware of the history of your contract and can advise and adjust to match any problems that may occur.

An ideal contract is one where premises are well proofed; with good hygiene practices thereby reducing the need for toxic baits to an absolute minimum. Cockroach pheromone monitors  often pick up problems before they are noticed by staff, the environmental health inspector or customers.

After every visit a written report is made out for the manager to sign. This contains details of any problems, recommended action for the owner to take in respect to hygiene or proofing and baits laid or removed.

A well run pest control contract will save money and your reputation in the long run.
