About Tadley
Tadley is an ancient village that is now classed as a small town. Most of the town is in Hampshire but some of the northern part is in Berkshire.
There are suburbs or villages of Baughurst and Heath End that are joined to Tadley. The size now is due to the tripling of the housing stock by the construction in the 1950s and 1960s due to new estates being built to house the workers at the then new Atomic Weapons Research Establishment. This was built on an old RAF site that was used in the 2nd World War.
The village has grown from the small village to a town that has a large supermarket, an indoor swimming pool, a new library. There are no rail links but the A340 from Basingstoke to Pangbourne runs through Tadley.
