Bedbugs & Holidays can be linked. One of the ways to bring bed bugs into your home is when you have been on holiday. Many hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts have bed bugs. In Victorian times and early 20th century the main bed bug hot spots in the UK were seaside towns such as Blackpool, Skegness and Brighton. The more people move through a place, the more likely bed bugs will be there.

If you go to a hotel never put your case under or near the bed. Put it as far away from the bed as possible and not in the wardrobe. If the place you are staying in has bed bugs then you could take them home with you if any get into your gags or suitcase. When you return home don’t take your bags to any bedrooms. Remove the contents in a non sleeping room and don’t store in a wardrobe or in a bedroom.

One of the reasons that bed bugs spread and what makes treating them difficult is the way they behave. The majority of the bed bug population will live in and around the bed. The females get damaged during mating so the adult females live away from the males and ‘commute’ in to feed. They live in furniture, light switches, electrical sockets under carpets eat. This is why I don’t advise storing a bag or suitcase in a wardrobe.
