The town of Hounslow was formed around the Holy Trinity Priory around 1211 on the Bath Rd (A4). The Priory was dissolved in 1539 but Hounslow remained. Hounslow Heath was used as a military encampment by Oliver Cromwell and James 2nd as well as sheltering Highwaymen. Hounslow initially suffered from the building of the Great Western Railway as less travellers stopped stopping at Hounslow and resting their horses. By 1842 the local paper was reporting that the ‘formerly flourishing village’, which used to stable 2,000 horses, was suffering a ‘general depreciation of property.

Pest Control In Hounslow
Hounslow offers many opportunities for pest control. This area is densely populated with old and crowded housing stock with old sewers. There is also a railway line and some waterways. All of the factors listed lead to pest opportunities for bed bugs, cockroaches, rats, mice, fleas and other insect and rodent pests. Although a fairly new area for PESTUK we have several pest control contracts within the Hounslow area including Schools, Takeaways, Restaurants, shops and Housing Associations. Hounslow houses and flats often (due to their age) require a lot of proofing to prevent rodents accessing living area and travelling between houses and flats. A long term solution when dealing with rodent problems which occur within terraced houses or flats is proofing. By proofing buildings as well as a treatment can help prevent rats or mice from spreading from dwelling to dwelling. Hounslow’s old housing stock and densely populated housing means there is a great demand for this type of pest control work.
The local council (The London Borough of Hounslow) charges extremely high prices for pest control. Unless you are on benefits and have rats you are much better off going to a private pest control company like PEST UK. Hounslow Council’s Pest Control Department charge a minimum of £80 per hour and bed bugs £180.00! It is obvious that the Hounslow Council is using pest control as a way to obtain money and not as a service. The service that Hounslow Council Pest Control provide is poor with no week end, bank holiday, Sunday, evening or early morning calls provided. The advice and booking line is only available during office hours. PESTUK’s phone lines are open and answered by people 7 days a week, 24 hours a day!
