Historically a rural village, evidence shows that parts of Ealing has been occupied for the last 7,000 in Middlesex with the introduction of a railway station in 1838 the economy locally shifted to from market garden supply to suburban development. Many settlements of these early times were scattered along what is now known as St. Mary’s Road

Ealing is most known for its film studios, which are the oldest in the world and known especially for the Ealing comedies such as- Kind Hearts and Coronets, Passport to Pimlico, The Ladykillers and The Lavender Hill Mob. The studios were taken over by the BBC in 1955; this led to many iconic television programs including Doctor Who and Monty Python using Ealing as a filming location. The studios have once again been used for the making of movies such as Notting Hill and the remake of St Trinian’s.
