30 Acre Way
Northwood is an elevated residential area in the London Borough of Hillingdon adjoining Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve. First recorded as Northwode, from the Old English ‘north’ and ‘wode’, meaning northern wood.
Noted in the Domesday Book in 1086, the parish of Ruislip had very large woodlands, enough to support one parish. The hamlet of Northwood grew along the northern side of the Rickmansworth- Pinner road, passing along the north east of the parish. It wasn’t until the 19 century that Northwood became a village and not just scattered settlements.
By 1891 there were 115 houses, one shop and one public house. A century later there were 500 houses and 26 shops.
The Royal Air Force used Northwood Headquarters from 1939 until 1969 for use of RAF Coastal Command at Eastbury House. The site is now location of the British Armed Forces permanent joint Headquarters, for the planning and controlling of overseas military operations with NATO Regional Command.
Northwood, Northwood Hills and Moor Park London Underground stations on the Metropolitan line provide train services to the area.
Transport for London have 3 bus routes, the 282, 331 and H11 that connects Ruislip, Harrow, Northolt, Denham, Greenford, Uxbridge and Ealing Hospital. Arriva Shires & Essex provide bus service via the route 8 connecting Northwood to South Oxhey, Watford, Leavesden and Abbots Langley.
Northwood F.C. play at Chestnut Avenue and play in the Evo-Stik Leagues Southern Division One Central. Northwood Town Cricket Club also play from the same location in the Hertfordshire Cricket League.
Common pest problems
We treat mice and rats in the local area quite often as well as provide contract services for some of the local restaurants, as well as all other pests such as cockroaches, ants, bedbugs and fleas.
Some of the pests we deal with:
|Rats||You may see rats during daylight hours but they prefer to operate at night.|
|Ants||Worker ants will frequently enter dwellings foraging for food, particularly sweet substances.|
|Cockroaches||Cockroaches are mainly nocturnal so they are more likely to be seen at night.|
|Squirrels||The most common complaint about Squirrels is when they take residence in a loft space.|
|Mice||You may see, hear or smell a mouse problem or see other evidence such as burrowing in insulation or soil.|
|Wasps||Wasps are aggressive and will sting readily if they think the nest is in danger.|
