Sean Benham our Pest Control Technician runs this pest control office. The pest control office is based in an industrial park, not in an attractive area like some of our other offices. Basingstoke is one of PEST UK’s oldest locations – it was the 3rd pest control office to be set up as we expanded from our Reading base. Before we changed our company name to PEST UK we traded as Basingstoke Pest Control as well as Berkshire & Basingstoke Pest Control.
Basingstoke has expanded rapidly. In the 60’s and 70’s it was classed as an overspill town to take people from London. It is due to this recent expansion that the road infrastructure is quite new and has fewer problems with traffic than Reading, Aldershot or Slough. It has been named ‘doughnut city’ due to the number of roundabouts situated on the ring road.
It has been chosen by several large companies for their office locations; companies such as The Automobile Association, De La Rue, Sony, GAME, Motorola and many more. The massive Fork Lift manufacturer, Lansing Bagnell used to have several large sites in Basingstoke.

Pest Control in Basingstoke

PEST UK have many pest control contracts in and around the Basingstoke area: Industrial Parks, Bakeries, several small shops including Bakers, Butchers, Convenience Stores, The Main Town Centre Shopping Centre and more. Due to the infrastructure of the town (mainly the sewers) not being as old as other towns in the area, Basingstoke does seem to have fewer rat problems than towns of comparable size but has the ‘normal’ pest control problems of wasps, bees, ants, bed bugs, fleas, cockroaches, rats, mice & squirrels of which PEST UK  carries out a large percentage of the pest control problems in Basingstoke.  A railway line runs through the centre of Basingstoke and as can be expected there are more pest control problems involving rat and mouse pest problems around this area. Railway lines can be a highway for rats, mice squirrels & some insect pests as they provide food from the trains (discharged sewage from the carriages as well as rubbish) and debris thrown over the fence borders. Rats other rodents & insect pests get cover from vegetation and buildings. There is no river or canal running through the centre of Basingstoke (there is to the east side), waterways also supply the same environment as railway lines for rats, mice, squirrels and insect pests.

Basingstoke & Deane Council Pest Control

Basingstoke & Deane Council Pest Control department provide treatments for rats for people over 60 on income support. There is often a long waiting list for this service. For the majority of people who don’t qualify for this Basingstoke & Deane Council Pest Control scheme they tell people to choose a pest control company from either the Yellow Pages or the ‘Buy With Confidence Scheme’. PEST UK are in this scheme & advertise within the Yellow Pages. In our opinion at PEST UK it would be better if they pointed customers with pest control problems to the BPCA (The British Pest Control Association) as companies that are members of the British Pest Control Association are fully qualified in pest control and have to carry out ongoing training and testing as well as being CRB checked

Some of the pests we deal with:
RatsYou may see rats during daylight hours but they prefer to operate at night.
AntsWorker ants will frequently enter dwellings foraging for food, particularly sweet substances.
CockroachesCockroaches are mainly nocturnal so they are more likely to be seen at night.
SquirrelsThe most common complaint about Squirrels is when they take residence in a loft space.
MiceYou may see, hear or smell a mouse problem or see other evidence such as burrowing in insulation or soil.
WaspsWasps are aggressive and will sting readily if they think the nest is in danger.
