Rodents in Lower Earley
Today I carried out a follow-up visit for a rat treatment that i started just before christmas. When carrying out rat treatments (or mice treatments), it is important to ensure that enough visits are carried out to control a problem. At PestUK this is usually 2-3 dependent on the severity of the infestation. This particular treatment of a Large old house in Lower Earley on the edge of Reading in Berkshire required 2 visits to control the infestation. I found that the rats were in fact entering the kitchen of the property through a hole around a pipe that emptied the washing machine water into the drain. The rats were living in a pile of rubbish in the garden of the property, and from there they found a way to get inside.
To stop the rats from getting inside i used concrete to fill in gap around the pipework. This is an example of minor proofing that myself and our other technicians are proficient at carrying out following a rodent treatment(there is a small additional charge for this service). Poisoning or rodent baiting alone will in some cases not be enough to deal with a rodent problem or prevent a re occurrence.
Before and After
This is a good example of why it is good to get rid of rats from outside your property, not just if you are seeing them inside. If you are seeing rats outside in the garden there is a good chance that they will find a way to get in given enough time. If you have a problem with rats outside or inside your property please do not hesitate to give us a call at PestUK.
