Pest Control for Gardens and Allotments

As the weather gets warmer, many of us are turning to tend gardens and allotments. Gardening has many health benefits from reducing stress to improving your physical fitness. Pest control for gardens and allotments is important to protect plants and the condition of the growing space. We provide one-off treatments or pest control contracts against pests for any outdoor green space.

What pests are found in gardens and allotments, and how to get rid of them

Pests commonly associated with damage to gardens and allotments include-

Ants – their nests can cause damage to the roots of your plants and can kill them. Use gel baits to get rid of ants.

Aphids –  leaves covered in a thick layer of soot-like substance, curled leaves, and twisted shoots are signs of aphid activity. Use residual insecticide sprays for aphids.

Caterpillars – feed on the foliage and leaves of plants, noticed by the holes left in leaves.

Slugs and Snails – one of the most hated pests by gardeners, slugs and snails are not fussy eaters and will enjoy munching on anything you plant. There are a number of ways to treat this problem. Our technicians take into consideration other wildlife when using poisons and baits.

Woodlice – only a problem in large numbers. Keep the space tidy by removing dead leaves. They like dark and damp areas for nesting.

Finally, Rats and Mice – if there is a suitable shelter, a food source, and water supply they may nest nearby and cause further damage to plants. Rodents are most commonly treated by bait that is checked regularly to alleviate the problem. The bait is laid in a controlled and safe manner so as not to affect any welcome wildlife.
