Mice Pests

Are Mice pests? People seem to tolerate mice more than rats. In fact some people will not bother to control mice but would be horrified if they had rats and would get a pest control company in straight away if they had a rat infestation. Mice carry most of the same diseases that rats do and more importantly, you are more likely to catch s=dieseases from mice than rats in a domestic situation. The reason for this is that mice urinate far more frequently than rats and are generally much bolder. They will go onto work tops and food preparation surfaces in kitchens as well as cutlery draws and food cupboards. As they urinate every few minutes at least, you can see the problem.

How to Control Mice

controlling mice pests with traps is virtually impossible. The reason for this is that they learn very quickly and if they see their relatives and friends being caught in traps (wether they be humane or killer traps) they avoid traps. The other problem is that once they become trap shy they can also avoid any new objects or substances, such as mouse poison bait! If poison bait is used it is important to use fresh readily made bait (some shop bought bait can be years old and will not be eaten!) and you need the right type of bait in the right places, not just where mice are seen.
