Guildford PEST UK Office

Guildford, Surrey is in the South East of PESTUK’s current coverage area and is 27 miles south west of London and on the A3 between London and Portsmouth. Our technicians also do many one off jobs for pests including ants, bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas, mice and rats and bees and wasps. The river and canal that run through Guildford increases the likelihood of rat and mouse infestations along the borders of these areas, which can be excellent harbourage and food sources for these rodents. Guildford PEST UK is one of our oldest offices. Our Guildford office is run by Marcin Wojtanik.

Squirrels can cause damage in lofts and in gardens.

When squirrels enter a loft, they can cause structural damage by tearing up loft insulation for bedding, chewing timbers, pipe work and any stored items, and can also pose a fire hazard by stripping insulation from electrical wiring or chewing through cabling which can cause fires or electrical problems. Insulation may be pilled into large balls for the nest or drey. They can also be very noisy, and if they were to drown in uncovered water storage tanks, may contaminate the water supply. For these reasons, it is important to keep squirrels out of lofts.

Mice must constantly gnaw to keep their teeth from growing too long.

Mice are extremely adaptable, changing there behaviour to fit in with the environment they are in. House mice consume food meant for humans or pets. The contamination of food-preparation surfaces with faeces, which can contain the bacterium that causes food poisoning (salmonellosis) is likely.

People seem more tolerant of mice than rats although they carry the same diseases as rats and are more likely to transmit these diseases, as they are bolder and more curious, coming into closer contact with food, cutlery and work surfaces. Their constant gnawing causes damage to structures and property.

Wasps become more aggressive in late summer early autumn.

If a wasp nest is not treated it will eventually die out but before this happens the nest will produce around 100 fertile Queens that will hibernate and start their own nests the following year. A nest will get larger until the Autumn & it is the Autumn & early Winter when they are at their most aggressive & dopey. This is when they are likely to sting people. The workers have finished their job of nest maintenance & collecting food for grubs & now are feeding on rotting fruit (this makes them drunk & more aggressive). Wasp nests can stain ceilings and even eat through them in some instances.

PESTUK are a member of the BPCA, the governing body for pest control companies. Our technicians are fully trained, insured and CRB checked.
