The Pest Control Wokingham office was PEST UK’s first regional pest control office and is currently run by pest control technician Rick Pellen. He is currently training to gain the pest control qualification of pest control biologist, which will allow him to carry out pest control audits on pest control contracts and food related premises. He will be fully qualified by 2016 and PEST UK will be offering a Biologist Inspection service then, not only in Wokingham but most of the South of England.

Wokingham is a wealthy Market Town in Berkshire situated between Reading and Bracknell. The name came from Wocca which was the name of a Saxon Chief.

In Tudor times Wokingham produced silk. During the civil war Wokingham suffered looting and damage from both sides. Over 20% of the town was destroyed. Wokingham was also famous for bull baiting which was carried out every year in December until the practice was banned. Wokingham has its own train station with links to London, Waterloo and Gatwick Airport. Wokingham is twinned with Erfstadt in Germany and Viry-Chatillon in France.

PEST UK has a wide range of pest control contracts in Wokingham and the surrounding area and they include: Industrial Parks, Private Houses, Private & State Schools and Colleges, Warehouses, Factories, Restaurants, Take Aways, Guest Houses, Wokingham Borough Council Offices, Nature Reserves, Traveller Caravan Sites, Churches, a Community Centre, Blocks of Flats, Shops, a Spar,  and 2 Golf Courses. We have had a major presence regarding pest control in the area.

Pest Control in Wokingham and the surrounding area:
As well as the extensive pest control contract base we carry out many pest control one off treatments in Wokingham and the surrounding area for both domestic and commercial premises. The pests treated include rats, mice, wasp nests, bees, ants, cluster flies, cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, flies, squirrels, rabbits & moles.  Wokingham does not suffer from many breaches or breaks in the sewer system that can lead to rat and mouse pest problems but the main source of pest control problems relating to rats, mice & squirrels seem to be people feeding birds. Feeding birds supplies rodents with a regular supply of a high protein foodstuff. Wokingham has a railway line running through the centre and some small streams. These can provide food and shelter for rats, mice, squirrels and some insect pests. The railway line that runs from Reading to Waterloo passes through Wokingham. The properties and businesses alongside the railway line due suffer from pest problems of rats, mice, squirrels and some insect pests more so than other properties. PEST UK had a pest control contract at the hotel next to the station (the hotel was taken over by a multinational chain, so we lost the contract). The bin area of this hotel was next to the railway line and even though the owners were extremely careful with the hygiene and integrity of the bins rats would always be taking the bait. Reason for this is that railway lines (and canals, motorways, rivers) provide a route for travel and in some cases food and water for rats, mice, squirrels and some insect pests.

Wokingham Borough Council Pest Control

Wokingham Borough Council only has one pest control technician who carries out pest control on council owned housing stock and then only for rats and mice. Other pests that they may treat are charged but the availability of the Wokingham Borough Council pest control technician is very limited. PEST UK have pest control contracts at many of the Wokingham Borough Councils sites, including the main office and grounds at Shute end. We are currently dealing with a squirrel problem in the main office and have preventative baits and monitors around the lake in the grounds of the Council offices where there are a population of European Pond Turtles. These were probably introduced and survived but people will feed these creatures as well as the ducks on the pond which encourages rats, mice and squirrels. Stopping people doing this in a public area is difficult.  Wokingham Borough Council generally advise people with pest control problems to go to the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) web site to select a qualified company from there.

Pest Control at Schools in the Wokingham Area

PEST UK have many pest control contracts at schools throughout the Wokingham area. Schools like to have a company where all the pest control technicians are CRB checked and can respond almost immediately to any emergency pest control problem. PESUK meet this criteria. We work 7 days a week. PEST UK carry out fox control at many schools, not just in the Wokingham area although the large gardens, housing settlements separated by some rural land suit foxes and schools cannot tolerate having foxes droppings on their playing fields and play areas due to the risk of disease.

Arborfield Garrison

PEST UK has been operating (under a different name but with the same ownership) for 26 years. One of the first major clients was the MOD at the Arborfield Garrison. This site is now being run down and replaced with housing.

Please click on the menu bar to the left to see the wide range of pests we deal with.

Rats - You may see rats during daylight hours but they prefer to operate at night.
Ants - Worker ants will frequently enter dwellings foraging for food, particularly sweet substances.
Cockroaches - Cockroaches are mainly nocturnal so they are more likely to be seen at night.
Squirrels - The most common complaint about Squirrels is when they take residence in a loft space.
Mice - You may see, hear or smell a mouse problem or see other evidence such as burrowing in insulation or soil.
Wasps - Wasps are aggressive and will sting readily if they think the nest is in danger.
