Scott Hyslop (the General Manager) runs this pest control branch of PEST UK and is it is also our head office. This pest control office is the main office of PEST UK. Presently we have 30 regional pest control offices from West London (north & south) to Hungerford, Berkshire in the west of our region, High Wycombe in the north and Alton in the south. When these pest control offices are not manned then the phones are diverted to the this main pest control office in Portman Rd, Reading. The main office can book up pest control jobs and perform the function of any of the regional offices.

Pest Control Contracts in Reading:
PEST UK have many pest control contracts in West Reading including Pangbourne Working Mans Club, Hotels, Butchers, Take Aways, domestic premises and Cafes. We also have many pest control contracts in the Oxford Road area which has hundreds of shops, Take Aways, Restaurants, Clubs and other specialist shops. As well as the above PEST UK has many pest control contracts for commercial sites in Reading & many schools. The pest control contracts perform a preventive function as well as dealing with pests on a call out basis (such as wasp & bee nests or ants, fleas and other insects and rodents).View from the air over the depot at Theale

View from the air over the depot at Theale (was Foster Yeoman) looking towards the centre of Reading. The large areas of water are old gravel pits to the south west of Reading.

The West of Reading contains The Oxford Rd, Norcot, Battle, Kentwood, Minster, Southcote, Tilehurst, Whitley, Caversham, Holybrook, Pangbourne, Purley on Thames, Tidmarsh, Sulham and Theale. Much of this area is not in the Reading Borough Council’s catchment area but in West Berkshire District Council.

The East of Reading contains the suburbs of Woodley and Earley. PEST UK actually have a pest control office in Lower Earley. Both Lower Earley and Woodley are under the control of Wokingham Borough Council not Reading Borough Council.

In the north of Reading across the Thames is Caversham. This is an affluent area linked to Reading via 2 bridges, Caversham & Reading bridges.

Pest Control in Reading:
The older parts of Reading centre have severe pest control issues with rats due to the poor state of buildings and infrastructure of some areas. The sewers are a constant source of pest control problems regarding rats & mice. Rats will thrive in older sewer systems where they can feed &  burrow into the walls of broken sewers, then spread to the surface from collapsed pipes or other breaches. A railway line and 2 rivers run through the centre of Reading, both add to Reading’s pest control problems as both supply food and cover for rats & mice. As well as these factors PEST UK carry out pest control treatments for domestic & commercial premises which include: ants, bees, bed bugs, cluster flies, cockroaches, rats, mice, squirrels & wasp nests. Some parts of Reading are riddled with Bed Bug problems due some parts of Reading having densely packed housing conditions with poorly maintained sewer systems as well as a high percentage of these areas being near to railway lines, canals or one of the two rivers that run through Reading. PEST UK carries out pest control work for several housing associations in Reading (including Southern Housing, James Butcher & the Co Operative) & also pest control for Reading Borough & West Berks Councils.

Pest Control in Reading Schools
As well as preventative pest control Public Health Contracts (Rats, Mice & Cockroach Monitoring) in many of Reading’s schools PEST UK carry out fox culling on a regular basis in several of Reading’s Schools. Many of Reading’s Schools now rely on PEST UK rather than the Reading Borough Council for pest control call outs such as wasps, mice, bees, ants, cockroaches etc. This is due to our quick response and that all PEST UK’s pest control staff are CRB checked and fully qualified. PEST UK is a full BPCA  member (The British Pest Control Association).

Reading Borough Council Pest Control Charges:
Reading Borough Council only carry out treatments for rats. They do charge for this, it is slightly cheaper than PEST UK but getting an appointment can be difficult as they only have one pest control technician for the Reading area and as they offer a subsidised rate for rat treatments for people living within the Reading Borough on some benefits he is usually booked up several weeks in advance with rat jobs. On the Reading Borough Council web site they recommend that people go to the BPCA (British Pest Control Association) for advice or to be supplied with a choice of  pest control companies. PEST UK is a full BPCA member with the additional factor that all the PEST UK pest control technicians are CRB checked as well as being members of the PROMPT/BASIS scheme. PEST UK also carry out pest control work and have pest control contracts at several of Reading Borough Council’s sites in Reading.
