Farnborough

Farnborough is a large town in north east Hampshire which is part of a massive urban sprawl that starts at Sandhurst and Camberley in the north and stretches about 15 miles to the south, ending in Farnham. Farnborough is part of Rushmoor Borough. The town of Farnborough was founded in Saxon times and the name means ‘fern hill’. Farnborough borders  Surrey.

Pest Control in Farnborough: PEST UK have one of the largest pest control contracts we have at TAG who run Farnborough Airport. PEST UK carry out Fox shooting programs on a regular basis at several schools in Farnborough. Foxes like schools as they provide peaceful areas to rest and ample opportunities to lay up or even breed. farnborough

Farnborough is an old town but relatively wealthy so does not suffer with pest problems concerning bed bug, cockroaches, rat, mouse or fleas as much as some poorer towns in the PEST UK catchment area. Although the level of these pests is less than other areas Farnborough still has its fair share of other pest control problems which include: ants, bees, carpet beetles, cat fleas, foxes, wasps, hornets, squirrels and rabbits. To the right is a picture of Farnborough Airport where PEST UK have a Pest Control Contract.

Rodents: Most of the rat, mouse and squirrel pest control problems in the Farnborough area actually stem from people feeding birds (in some cases feeding foxes, badgers or other wildlife). Bird feeding provides a source of high protein food in the same place at regular intervals. Birds are messy feeders and no matter what you do there will always be some spillage. The peanut feeders and fat balls are the worst offenders. Even the squirrel proof feeders provide spillage underneath the feeder that rats mice and squirrels can pick up. Rats and mice will usually feed at night time (its safer for them) but the less dominant, old, young or sick rats will often feed during the more dangerous day time so as to not get attacked by more dominant rats.

Wasp Nests: Farnborough seems to have a high density of wasp nests. This could be that Farnborough is surrounded by pine forests and wasps will construct their nests from chewed up pine bark but are increasingly using wood from older panel fencing and garden furniture.

Bees: The revival of the Bumble Bee and Honey Bee population in recent years has also been noticed in and around the Farnborough area.

Fleas: As Farnborough is a wealthy area and a high proportion of the population work, cats are more popular that dogs as pests and because of this Farnborough has a lot of cat flea problems that PEST UK deal with. Over 90% of the fleas now reported are Cat Fleas. Cat Fleas will live on dogs and other animals and are now the dominant flea in the UK.

Bed Bugs: Another pest that is often associated with poorer areas but in fact infests wealthy areas as well is Bed Bugs. Bed Bugs are often picked up when holiday makers or business people visit hotels, hostels or rent houses.

Farnborough has a wide variety of pest control problems but PEST UK can deal with any of these.

Rob Thirlwell is the pest control technician in charge of the PEST UK Farnborough Pest Control Office. As well as looking after the Farnborough PEST UK office Rob lives in Farnborough so you know a pest control technician is never far away. Although the youngest pest control technician at PEST UK (in his mid 20’s) he is a vastly experienced BPCA qualified pest control technician who before he joined PEST UK was used as a senior pest control technician & a pest control trouble shooter for problem pest control operations that other pest control technicians could not solve.
