Rats in Lofts

Rats in lofts are a common problem. Rats in lofts can cause fires by chewing through electrical wires, cause floods by chewing through water pipes, contaminate water tanks with urine, droppings and dead rat bodies, they carry disease and make a lot of noise.

How do Rats in Lofts get there?

Rats are adaptable and clever, they can enter lofts by climbing up walls, creepers or inside drain pipes to enter the loft though the sofa board area of the roof but usually it is into the cavity wall either through an external hole or a sub terrain route from the sewer or other utility route into a house.

How to deal with Rats in Lofts?

PEST UK are experts at this. On the first visit we try and see how the rats are getting into the building. This is not always possible if the route into the building is underground, via a sewer breach or the house/flat is a terraced or similar. On this visit we will also look to see if there is an external food source (such as bird feeding, hygiene issues or chickens or other animals being kept nearby) then after making any recommendations in regard to these matters (this may not be until the second visit) the pest control technician will lay poison baits. The pest control technician will return in 2-3 weeks to check the treatment has worked, pick up any bodies and the remaining bait.
